Zecharya Avraham Baruch Ben Ephraim
Zachary Shporer, OBM was a happy, athletic, positive, take-over-the-world (in a good way) teen. He was awesome to be around. His friends and family loved him. His teachers raved about him. He was passionate about helping others, especially children and teens with special needs. That’s how he got involved in Friendship Circle. When Zachary was 18, he was diagnosed with a horrific form of Leukemia. He fought a ferocious battle and bravely faced the challenges and suffering no 18 year old should know. Ever! Zachary went into a remission for a short while but unfortunately the dreaded disease came back, and Zachary was taken from us at the young age of 19.
When Zachary became sick, his loving community, both at home and at school, were eager to do anything possible to ensure a speedy recovery. So many people reached out asking “What can we do to help?” and the answer was to increase in Mitzvot to merit a speedy recovery for Zachary.
A mitzvah, a G-dly deed, has the power to reach deep into the core of our being–where we are all one. At this core, a positive deed on our part can help bring peace and goodness to our world.
G-d however had other plans, ones we do not understand. Though Zachary was taken from us, the impact he had and continues to have on the world is remarkable. The many mitzvot that continue to be performed in his merit are truly innumerable.
May we merit to be reunited with Zachary immediately with the coming of Mashiach today!
