About Rabbi Vorst

Close to sixty years ago, Rabbi Vorst was sent by the Rebbe to serve as the Head Shliach to the Netherlands, revitalizing Judaism in the country after it was ravaged by the horrors of the Holocaust. He was a member of the Dutch Rabbinate, and laid the foundation of two shuls in the Amsterdam area. Rabbi Vorst doesn’t see his Rabbinical duties as a desk job or speaking opportunity from the pulpit. He wouldn’t think twice about joining a soccer (football) game with a group of Jewish children, be it his many grandchildren or campers. Rabbi and Mrs. Vorst are yearly fixtures at the annual Yom haVoetbal with a Tefilin stand, offering the many Jewish players and visitors the opportunity to do a Mitzvah.

The Vorst home on de Vlaschaard functions as a true Chabad House. It continues to be open to anyone in need of physical or spiritual nourishment. Under the Rebbe’s continuous guidance, their tireless efforts have brought Judaism into the lives of countless Dutch, Jewish families.

Currently, Rabbi Vorst is in the hospital fighting a serious illness and working to regain his strength. We’ve heard so many ask, “How can we help?”. He is encouraged and appreciative of every mitzvah that is done in his honor for a complete and speedy recovery. As Jewish people, we understand that there is so much more to healing than doctors and medications. We are told many stories of how prayers and good deeds have changed the course of an illness or other catastrophe. We are truly fortunate to have this ability and opportunity.

Keep in mind, while you are doing your mitzvah, that each entry to this campaign is also bringing great joy and comfort to both Rabbi and Mrs. Vorst and the entire family. We believe and trust that Hashem will accept our prayers and send Rabbi Vorst the cure he needs.
Thank you so much for your participation!

Chapter 86

1. A prayer of David. O Lord, incline Your ear; answer me for I am poor and needy.
2. Watch my soul for I am pious; save Your servant-You, my God-who trusts in You.
3. Be gracious to me, O Lord, for I call to You all the days.
4. Cause the soul of Your servant to rejoice, for to You, O Lord, I lift my soul.
5. For You, O Lord, are good and forgiving, with much kindness to all who call You.
6. Lend Your ear, O Lord, to my prayer, and hearken to the voice of my supplications.
7. On the day of my distress I shall call You, for You will answer me.
8. There is none like You among the godly, O Lord, neither is there any like Your works.
9. All nations that You made will come and prostrate themselves before You, O Lord, and glorify Your name.
10. For You are great and perform wonders, You, O God, alone.
11. Teach me Your way, O Lord; I shall walk in Your truth. Unify my heart to fear Your name.
12. I shall thank You, O Lord my God, with all my heart, and I shall glorify Your name forever.
13. For Your kindness is great toward me, and You have saved my soul from the lowest depths of the grave.
14. O God, willful transgressors have risen against me, and a company of mighty ones have sought my life, and they did not place You before themselves.
15. But You, O Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger and with much kindness and truth.
16. Turn to me and be gracious to me; grant Your might to Your servant and save the son of Your maidservant.
17. Grant me a sign for good, and let my enemies see [it] and be ashamed, for You, O Lord, have helped me and comforted me.
